Visit of Catalonia Government authorities to AGC Pharma Chemicals

Barcelona, April 14th, 2022 –  The company received the Ministry of Business and Labour of Catalonia, the Honorable Roger Torrent i Ramió and the Mayor of Malgrat de Mar, Sònia Viñolas. Also, authorities of Catalan Government agency Catalonia Trade & Investment and media.

The purpose of the visit was to announce an investment of 100 million US dollars and the creation of 100 new jobs by first half of 2024. Thanks to this expansion, AGC Pharma Chemicals will increase a 30% the API production capacity.

The Catalonia Government authorities and company’s executives had a meeting, and they did a tour of the manufacturing plant. The Ministry of Business and Labour of Catalonia said to journalist during the visit that “AGC is betting on Malgrat de Mar, Maresme, and the company is a benchmark in the sector. With this kind of project Catalonia is positioning in a global pharmaceutical market”. Also, Torrent assured that it is a “strategic and key” sector and that “it will be even more in the future”.

The CEO of AGC Pharma Chemicals Europe, Akihiro Kadokura said that “we are very happy to announce a great expansion of the production plant with an investment of 90 million euros and the creation of 100 jobs in the first half of 2024”. Kadokura told the media that it will be “a more modern and technological plant” and that “Catalonia is a center of chemical and pharmaceutical industry with outstanding professionals”.

The authorities and AGC Pharma Chemicals executives visited the green field of the new expansion, the new R&D building and micronization plant.
